So now that I've had more time to think about it, I'm somewhat decided on a plan of a
attack. I decided that since my work schedule can be so up in the air, I probably won't
be able to schedule a set amount of things to do everyday. I'll just come up with a
list of things I want to finish in week and go from there. Some days I probably won't
be able to study for more than an hour and some days I'll probably end up being able to
study all day.
GRAMMAR
So I finally got my grammar book at the library. It's short and sweet, which is what I
wanted. There are around 27 chapters. My goal for grammar is to finish the book in a
month from day. I definitely want to do more with grammar outside of this book, but I'm
gonna just focus on what I have for right now.
VOCABULARY
I'm currently working on a beginner's Spanish vocab course on Memrise. At first I was
doing around 50 new words on that a day, but that might change. For right now, I'll
just keep doing the amount I'm doing. Eventually having to go through all those reviews
will be annoying. I'm thinking about using Anki a bit, but I'm just gonna finish this
course first. My goal is to finish the course before this month is over. Hopefully
before then.
READING
I've been doing lessons on Lingq.com, and I think I'm going to keep doing that. The
only things is I can't bare beginner's lessons anymore. They're really slow and are
never on topics of interest to me. So I've been doing intermediate level lessons. Which
isn't really all that hard. My parent's made me study English roots as a kid and being
that Spanish and English are so closely related, I can guess at the meaning of most
everything.
I also bought Treasure Island (an audio and text) in Spanish. I have never read this
book before, but I'm LOVE Robert Lewis Stevenson and have wanted to read this book for
years. I was going to read something I had already read in English, but I can't bare
going through material more than once. I have far too much of a short attention span~I
think I'm going to finish the course in Memrise and the grammar book before I attempt
reading Treasure Island so that way I can follow the plot better.
SPEAKING/WRITING
I'm going to start using Spanish with my manager at work and I already message native
Spanish speakers, so I'm getting a bit of practice that way. I don't feel like I'm
really ready to start speaking a whole lot, so I'm gonna worry about that in a few
weeks.
Also, I want to listen to around 15ish podcasts a week to start out with. I'm trying
the beginner series of Notes in Spanish. I'm not sure yet if I like it, but I like it
better than Coffee Break Spanish. I still can't get into that one. I'm also gonna try
to do five episodes of Destinos a week. So yeah. That's where I'm at right now~

So today was pretty productive. I managed to keep up with homework and study some
Spanish. I watched the second episode of Destinos, reviewed vocabulary, read a chapter in
my grammar book, and read some articles (Spanish language) on the Spanish Civil War and
Gisaengs.
I didn't really listen to any podcasts though. I'm aiming to do that tomorrow in between
my classes.

I only listened to the first 15 episodes of Coffee Break Spanish, and then I "outgrew" it. I think it's very useful for
someone who wants to learn limited travel Spanish, but it moves very slowly for people who want to become fluent
in the language. I just listened to one of the beginner podcasts from Notes in Spanish, and I see what you mean...I
think their intermediate and advanced podcasts are much more engaging.
I think that you'll find that Destinos really helps with your listening comprehension!

Definitely. While my main goal is tourist Spanish, I still feel like they move slow for
me. I really want to just skip to everything intermediate. Haha. My attention span is
really short. And I feel like a lot of beginner oriented things use super slow Spanish. I
mean, I understand why, but I'd rather just jump into native sounding speed. I'd rather
learn to cope right away than think I'm doing okay only to be blindsided by real Spanish.

For grammar I started working on getting a grasp of the use of "para." I've already
been using it, but I was never sure what the exact rules of it's usage are. I was never
sure when to say "por" and when to say "para." I've also started to attempt conjugating
verbs in the present tense for the first time since high school. The concept is sort of
fuzzy in my mind still. I'm going to review the chapter again tomorrow.
I also read three articles on Wikipedia in Spanish on leverate, sororate, and the
earliest complex societies. Don't ask. Anthropology major.
I reviewed vocabulary today and didn't really learn a whole lot. I was sort of too busy
with classes to do a whole lot there.
I watched the third episode of Destinos and listened to two podcast episodes. I also
spent about a half hour listening to Spanish language songs. I don't know why I love
Shakira so much. Not a whole lot today, but since I don't have class tomorrow, I expect
I should do a lot more.
