If you don't have a burning desire to learn Klingon then you won't succeed in doing so. With languages you must learn because they are obligatory in school or appear all around you in your surroundings you may eventually get a decent result without ever having made a conscious choice. But Klingon doesn't belong to this category: here you must decide consciously to study it and suffer the slings and arrows of adverse study conditions. And if that's how you feel about Klingon then you won't ask others for advice about which 5 languages you should study.

Well, I already speak Brazilian Portuguese and English, so if I was to add 5 more
languages which I would love to do so, they would be (in order):
1. French
2. Russian
3. Japanese (My wife's father is Japanese (native) bilingual PT-BR, JP). He has really
really great Brazilian Portuguese skills.
4. Polish (I have friends)
5. Dutch (I went to NL and loved it)

I would say that this list vary from person to person. As a brazilian with German
ascendance I have learned English, working on German and know some Spanish. Next one will
be Italian cause I like the way it sound.
My advice is: you have to find the ones that better fit in your life.

For me, I would pick
German
Russian
Spanish
Italian
Chinese
The first four I picked because I've already had some formal training in them and they would be easier to learn. I picked Chinese because it I believe that it will be a very useful language to know in the future. Other languages on my short list include French (because I like it) and Arabic (another useful language).

Mandarin
Russian
Arabic
Spanish
French
This 5 covers most of the world in terms of population and area. Speaking from a business/practical gain pov of course. For academics for example i would rather throw German in there and pick one of the romance languages out.

If someone should learn five languages, aside from English, they should be:
1. Mandarin Chinese
2. Spanish
3. Russian
4. French
5. Arabic
Aside from those languages considered dialects which I plan to study, these are also the languages I plan
to study in my life in that sequence, with the exception that I may also study Hindi before Arabic. I might
study some Japanese and Korean too. Greek too perhaps?
Life is so short!
