Dear members,
When I started the Language Learning Log room 4 years ago, I really wasn't sure if anybody would want to use it. But at the time it sounded like a cool idea - logging your efforts, difficulties and successes small and big in a public log so that other people could encourage you, monitor your progress and get inspired.
It proved a big success, we over 1276 different language logs in the room!
So, what new features would you want for this room?

The log subforum is a success story, because it is very, very active.
What I miss here are features to indicate your target languages being studied in the log so that they can be read by everyone. If you doubleclick a log everybody should see at once: This person XY studies French, German and Italian. (for example!) And another indication would be that you can fill in in which language/languages the log is written. Perhaps also a kind of template/wizard where you can fill in your language targets/goals per language.
And a possible indication in the title of the log "TAC xxxx (year)" which can be chosen, if it's meant to be a TAC log.
So I have enough ideas for this construction site...:-)

Some way to indicate the language(s) being learnt, other than in the log's title (which has a limited number of allowed characters), would be nice.
Ability to lock out other posters. I like people posting in my thread by others might not want it to be anything but a journal.
Maybe at the bottom of the pages an RSS/Atom feed could be added so that people could follow logs they are interested in. I know I don't read them all. Each message would contain a link back to the post/thread so that a reply could be made if necessary.
It would be interesting to a see a type of goals/methodology template that one can access from the beginning of the log. This would need to be editable also.
Perhaps this could be combined with the first idea. Add the language names under the log title and clicking on these leads to the templates that shows goal/accomplishment/courses and methodologies being used/etc.
Just my thoughts for now. I'll add anything else I can think of.

Guys, I am not sure to understand. When I look at one of the logs, the learned language appears on top in a box, and the other languages the poster speaks or studies appears in the box next to each of his messages. Do you mean that this information doesn't show for you, or for some posters, or that it should be made more prominent, or do you mean something else entirely?
Thanks!

Because for some time it wasn't possible to create language logs when having selected one of the languages, there are many logs that do not show the languages discussed in. I just tried and I can't add the language to my own log; neither is it possible for me to choose two or more languages using control + mouse like I'm used to. (Mine however doesn't show up as a logbook linked in the profile either, no idea what I messed up at that time; so maybe it is possible to edit the languages in 'regular' logs.)
I also think that Falsuye means something like a mouse-over that shows the languages chosen for a log when looking at the thread title from the subforum or a search, or a listing next to the title.
ETA: I also thought the language thingie was to indicate the language an entry was written in, not which it is about.

Personally I have just one log, which covers all my languages. I have indicated that it is in English because that's the only 'glue' in that thread. For me the biggest problem is the limited length of the title, - but this is not limited to the log subforum. If however a log is limited to one language, then there is ample space for the name of that language in the title, and many have written it there - and for me that is enough.

I guess it is a bit confusing when it asks for which language.
The language with which I am writing? The language I am learning, and journalling about?
And I can only select one language.

If people have only one log for all their languages anyway, perhaps we could remove the language drop-down box altogether?
