Not much new to report. More Assimil. Glad I've kept up with that at least. I'm going to Rhode Island this week to
visit friends so I'm hoping to have the most productive 4 hours train ride each way as possible.
Also, for me I randomly get attached to random Russian words that I like saying over and over. I think they sound
cool. So I'll just put them here.
успокоиться - to calm down
мороженое - ice cream
They're fun to say, I think. Lay the accent on thickkkkk.

More Assimil today and a bit of translating as well. Having a bit of trouble finding the focus to do more than that,
but it's better than nothing.
Some more interesting words:
Всё в порядке - everything is fine/all in order
К сожалению - with regret
Anyways, hope to keep sticking with it. Wondering if anyone reads any of this haha

Another day, another Assimil lesson. It was one of the review ones at the end of a section. I translated all the
dialogue without looking anything up or going back to previous lessons. I guess that means I've assimilated the
past few lessons quite well.
Some more interesting sounding words I've come across today:
Праздникам - holiday, special occasion (the "д" is rather silent)
слишком - too, as in too much. i.e: слишком жарко/холодно
Still have to do Anki for today. I think I usually rush through it, but I have noticed picking up on more words.
Definitely a useful program that comes highly recommended and I would no doubt pass on that recommendation.

You are my consistency hero! I have not done a thing with Russian for weeks, and I am going to Russia on
Monday and should have the best motivation possible. You are also really good at using what you learn, so
hats off!

Solfrid, thanks so much! I really appreciate the encouragement. Considering the amount of free time I have right
now though... one Assimil a day is not enough to warrant my being a "consistency hero" haha. I really should be
doing more! I hope your trip to Russia turns out delightful. I'm itching to go someday myself.
As usual, I did an Assimil lesson today. It was one of the funny ones. A woman says she wants a husband with a
bunch of rather unrealistic qualities, then her friends says "you dont need a husband, you need a tv!" I chuckled. I
also did more Anki. I'm starting to remember a lot more, so good to see its working.
Anyways, some interesting vocab:
объяснять - to explain.
рассказывать - to tell.
Both of these have similar meanings, but I found it quite easy to get the differences in when to use them.
I'm in Providence, Rhode Island for the next few days staying with some friends. Probably not going to get a
chance to practice Russian while I'm here, but hopefully I can keep up with Assimil at least.

Which year is the Assimil edition you're using, mryklin? In French there are at least three beginner's Russian books, but I assume you're using an English edition based on the 80's/90's text.
