I love Japanese. You know when you see those foreign words and hear it being spoken,
and you fall head over heals in love and know, that "This is the one?" Yeah, well
Japanese is "the one" for me. Only problem is I have trouble getting motivated to study
it, so this log is to help with the motivation aspect of it. People always say that if
you need motivation, make it public, because you'll be more likely to stick with it in
the long run, so that's what I'm doing.

My Japanese is elementary at the moment, so this will be my log for improving it.
Basically, I'll just post my goals and stuff, and keep you updated on how I'm going.

Major Goal for 2013: Pass the JLPT N4 in December!!

Weekly Goal (Wednesday - Sunday) (Short Week lol)
- Finish my reviews for Lesson 3 and 4 of Genki
- Clear all of my Anki Reviews Once a Day (Anki = Grammar Reviews)
- Clear my WankiKani Reviews Twice a Day (WaniKani = Kanji Reviews)
- Clear my Memrise.com Reviews Once a Day (Memrise = Vocabulary)
- Watch one episode of a Japanese anime or drama, with no subtitles at night.

These are just my goals for this week. Next week I'm planning on starting a YouTube
channel to start vlogging in Japanese, and I'm also going to look into joining my local
Japanese meetup group. I'll also sign up for another (and hopefully more productive)
semester of Japanese/English language exchange at my University.

That's all for now. I'll post updates every few days!

Marianna

Good luck, Marianna. If you think about it, at the rate the year is going December is really just around the corner! So just keep that motivation up and keep the good work up.

I might drop in every once in a while to see how things are going for you. Good luck!

Yeah I know! That's why I'm using it as motivation! Thank you :)

Today was a good day for study. I cleared all of my reviews on Anki, Wanikani and
Memrise without too much trouble, and I added 25 more to the core 1000 I'm working
through, though they were words I mostly knew. When they start to be ones I don't know,
I'll add less everyday so I can get to know them better. I finished and feel really
comfortable with Genki chapters 3 and 4, so I moved on to Chapter 5. I separated the
whole chapter based on grammar points and made a couple hundred sentences for each and
stuck them into anki, like I did for the other Genki chapters.

So tomorrow, I'll start working through Genki Lesson 5, and continue learning how to
write the vocab in the lesson and learn the appropriate kanji. The things in this
lesson are already a little familiar to me, so I don't think it will take to long to
get through it, maybe two or three days, and then I'll be able to move onto Genki 6.
Hopefully I can start Genki chapter 6 by monday. Chapter 6 is where I get to things
that I don't really know, so from then on it will be diving into the deep end with my
Japanese. However, before I start Genki 6, I'm planning on using Sunday to review all
the vocab for the other chapters (the grammar is in anki which I review on a day to day
basis anyway) and set up a proper system for practicing the writing daily.

Today, I also wrote a little journal entry for myself. I figured if I get myself to
write a page of Japanese in my notebook each day, it will help overall, just to cement
the grammar and everything. When I know more, I can start writing more pages each day,
but for now it's just a few paragraphs.
