I just finished Series One of Radio Deutsche Welle's Deutsch - warum nicht?.
I can say that I still do not speak German, but I now know a lot more German than I did twenty six lessons ago.
My goal is to do all four series, and then decide what to do after that. Tschüß.

Thanks for the update. I have sampled some of the program and it seems like an extended Teach Yourself course. I have always wondered what it would be like for the absolute beginner. There is also Fokus Deutsch.

Congrats on finishing series 1.
I have always held this single course (along with wieso nicht and marktplatz deutsch) from DW as the best, because of putting up a culturally rich program very unlike the MTs or the Pimsleurs.
Viel Erfolg!

Mein Gott!
Also, viel Glueck!

Vielen Dank! That's really inspiring.
I took a a break from it, and found myself focusing about.com's "German Word of the Day," using SuperMemo That's been an interesting experiment, as I've been building my vocabulary and figuring out grammar on new words and sentences alone.
However, I need help with pronunciation, and I'd certainly like to understand how the grammar works, so I'm back on the Deutsche Welle train again, about half way through Teil 2. I listen to the .mp3 files on public transit, and use SuperMemo for all new vocabulary. I only listen once a day, however, and once I find myself bored with a lesson (three listens, three days), it's time to move on.
We'll see if this works. I rather like the idea of learning a language spending NO MONEY whatsoever. :)
Thanks for the inspiration!

Great! I love "Deutsch - Warum nicht?"! I never went far with it, but I love the lessons and the stories. It's a great course!
