Written an entry for the Team Rare January challenge. Learned two new words and found out I can't into typing Arabic after the break.

I have the feeling that I'm going to be terribly annoying, but I sense that you're reaching a point where you should start paying attention to some grammar points, lest they prevent you from advancing.
The word you have there is "askunu" (I live or, more strictly, I inhabit): first person singular, present. The infinitive of this verb is "sakana" (to live or, more strictly, he lived): third person singular masculine, past tense. The root is "s-k-n". Maybe you already knew that the infinitive of an Arabic verb is given by the third person singular masculine of the past tense. Maybe you also knew that most verbs in the infinitive only have "fathas" when conjugated (for instance, "shariba" - to drink - is an exception). But maybe you didn't know yet that your "uskan" would be conjugating the verb as if it belonged to a different group, and in a different tense. As I wrote before, I may be reading too much into this, and I may be getting in your nerves for nothing, but I advise you to try and really nail some of these grammar basics. I respect the ground you covered in just one year, and it's exactly because of it that I can't sit idly and see you guessing at the "tashkeel" (vocalisation). You really built an impressive vocabulary, but Arabic grammar has very specific rules, and I'm sure you also want to have solid foundations to build upon. Yesterday, I watched a documentary about Nubia. It was supposedly French produced, but there were Arabic captions on screen sometimes in addition to English subtitles and the Polish dub, and I was able to pick up a few words in addition to النوبية.
(As an aside, we spotted that there was a boy with CP in one of the scenes - heh, the ease of spotting comes with a lifelong familiarity) My resolution for the February Rare Team challenge is to spend at least five minutes a day on Bliu Bliu reading Arabic. Trying new hearing aids, so far they don't give me that much of an improvement but have a nasty side effect of making me dizzy/queasy in a car.
... and the batteries came with instructions in various languages, including Arabic! The Arabic text reads: أنزع الغطاء اللاصق قبل الاستخدام 'Remove adhesive cover before use' Yeah, I had to use Aratools to get this one but I was so excited, it was the first thing I noticed about the batteries, even before the obvious fact that they are bigger! 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Sarah's birthday was yesterday, so I wrote "happy birthday habibti and I miss you!" on FB in Arabic.
Today I got a reply "thank you habibti and I miss you and Warsaw too". Sarah used a new word in her reply, so I'll have to look it up soon! 2 persons have voted this message useful |
