I'm curious what free resources you all use for language learning. The obvious one is the internet...but what else?

For example, I did a search in Apple's App Store for "learn Japanese" and dozens of free apps are available for download (most are the "lite" version). These could potentially be a nice supplemental resource while traveling (and I'm sure there are similar apps in the Android Market).

Have you found anything like this worth sharing?

Libraries can also be handy. Public libraries tend to have newer courses and dictionaries while research/university libraries have older courses/textbooks or specialists' works.

This may be a stretch but getting involved with applicable expat groups on Meetup or making friends with visitors on Couchsurfing/Hospitality Club/BeWelcome/Pasporta Servo can present unexpected bonuses for studying languages with a bit of luck and perserverence. For example I got hold of a native speaker of Inari Saami via the latter to the extent that I got some tips for more resources and even corrections for my homework gratis as my textbook lacked an answer key.

I like to use phone applications for the radio in my target language and also the
dictionaries that are available are quite handy. Also my friend gave me a tv program
where you can watch tv stations from around the world, which is definitely pretty handy -
its called "Readon TV Movie Radio Player".

Still I don't really like to rely on things from the internet all the time, which is why
I generally just buy a physical book if I really want it as a resource.
