Languages Monthly Report
German
* Finished "Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse. Indeed, a book worth reading.
* Have seen two movies that I really enjoyed: "Halbe Miete" and "Die Gebrüder Skladanowsky". Have also seen some episodes from "The Tudors", German audio with German subtitle, which are just OK, but will keep watching till the end of season 1. It is neither a fictional nor a historical series. That's the worst thing about it, in my opinion.
* Everyday, many times a day at different times of the day, I read something on the Internet, mostly Wikipedia, auf Deutsch. This has already been useful even jobwise speaking.
* I'm reading news through RSS from Neues Deutschland almost everyday.
As already said, using German is not only a rewarding thing, but I'm sure that it will pay off after a while.
Catalan
* Reached lesson 17, as stated above.
I'm sure that, at the very least, I'll be reading Catalan quite well by the end of this experiment.
Italian
* I would recommend the book "Canta che ti passa" to anyone who already knows Italian in a chaotic way and wants to review even some basic stuff.
* I'm listening a lot to Italian music, mostly Ambrogio Sparagna, Giovanna Marini and Lucio Dalla.
* I'm listening news through the app TuneIn Radio.
My passive skills in Italian are possibly C1+, but I need a huge improvement in my active skills, grammar knowledge and so on.

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 17 - Lesson 18 (Lliçó divuit)
Today, many names of foods, some of them I didn't know neither in Spanish nor in English and certainly don't eat in Portuguese.
The number of notes is increasing, from 4/5 in the initial lessons to 10 in lesson 18. However, the grammatical explanations continues to be scarce.
Time required for individual lessons (minutes)
Quinze (15) = 20
Setze (16) = 23
Disset (17) = 21
Divuit (18) = 25
Total time for groups of lessons (hours)
1 to 7 = 2.1
8 to 14 = 3.1

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 18 - Lesson 19 (Lliçó dinou)
The number of words increased again, by 25% from the last lesson, and the speech velocity decreased a little. Anyway, I understood almost every word and the overall meaning of the lesson even before reading the Catalan text.
On the other hand, it seems that some sounds are not already fixed on my mind as they should be and I keep making phonetical mistakes while pronouncing some basic words. I'll refrain from complaining about the lack of grammatical explanations (or not?).
Time required for individual lessons (minutes)
Quinze (15) = 20

Divuit (18) = 25
Dinou (19) = 25

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 19 - Lesson 20 (Lliçó vint)
Everything is going smoothly, but my accent. I would guess that my main problem is lack of exposure. Listening to Assimil was the first time I've listened to Catalan, which means that I haven't so far listened to "real", normal pace spoken Catalan. Anyway, I'll try to repeat each lesson aloud many times, instead of listen to a number of previous lessons during commute.

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 20 - Lesson 21 (Lliçó vint-i-una)
Third review lesson. The amount and deepness of grammar is, to say the least, very disappointing. As already stated by Jinx in our Group Log thread, I would never try to learn a language using Assimil alone. I'll continue to do that in this case, just for the sake of this experiment though.
Time required for individual lessons (minutes)
Quinze (15) = 20
Setze (16) = 23
Disset (17) = 21
Divuit (18) = 25
Dinou (19) = 25
Vint (20) = 27
Vint-i-una (21) = 28
Total time for groups of lessons (hours)
1 to 7 = 2.1
8 to 14 = 3.1
15 to 21 = 2.8
I would add about 1.0 hour for each group due to repetitions during commute.

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 21 - Lesson 22 (Lliçó vint-i-una)
Today's lesson was more challenging and therefore interesting. In the last review, it was suggested that you often refer to the grammar appendix, which I did today and it seems to calm down a little my need of further explanations.
Time required for individual lessons (minutes)
Vint-i-dues (22) = 34
Total time for groups of lessons (hours)
1 to 7 = 2.1
8 to 14 = 3.1
15 to 21 = 2.8
I would add about 1.0 hour for each group due to repetitions during commute.

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 22 - Lesson 23 (Lliçó vint-i-tres)
We are introduce to the Sardana. Almost as big and a bit longer than the last lesson. Now that the texts and speech pace are increasing, I'm starting to enjoy it a little more.
Time required for individual lessons (minutes)
Vint-i-dues (22) = 34
Vint-i-tres (23) = 33
Total time for groups of lessons (hours)
1 to 7 = 2.1
8 to 14 = 3.1
15 to 21 = 2.8
I would add about 1.0 hour for each group due to repetitions during commute.

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 23 - Lesson 24 (Lliçó vint-i-quatre)
About yesterday's lesson, I would add that after watching some Sardana's videos, it became easier to understand the lesson. As we all know, cultural references are important to better understand a language.
In my opinion, Sardanas are really very nice, both the music and the dance, although it took me a while to start enjoying it.
Today, another leap forward in words and duration.
Time required for individual lessons (minutes)
Vint-i-dues (22) = 34
Vint-i-tres (23) = 33
Vint-i-quatre (24) = 39
Total time for groups of lessons (hours)
1 to 7 = 2.1
8 to 14 = 3.1
15 to 21 = 2.8
I would add about 1.0 hour for each group due to repetitions during commute.
