Well only with MT; no i can't. It doesn't simply give enough vocabulary even for shopping at market. If i'd picked up the dictionary and learned every word i can possible need for the occasion prehand; then i would be able to i suppose. DW course is far better on getting started with small conversations; MT rather gives a birdseye view of the grammatical structure; with almost no useful vocabulary involved.

You are right about the vocabulary. I am aware of that and I am planning to add lists to my study. But i want to finish the MT, and I also have the advanced, vocabulary and language builder. I like the German language, but I find it a bit hard to stay motivated. That's why I want to feel like the progress is fast.

That's exactly how i feel about German. I picked up German 3-4 times in last decade, and always gave up. I can't seem to stay motivated. I mainly blame long and vovel lacking German words for that.
