I finally decided to start a log because this is the only way i will stick to studying
French.
Firstly, some background information: I am in 9th grade (first year of highschool in
Romania)and i have been studying French in school for 5 years and i will continue with
it to 12th grade. For the first 3 years i was quite unhappy with my skills so i decided
to just let it go, especially because i was interested in sciences at the time and that
took all my time.
Now, at highschool we got to choose the main subjects we are going to study so i have
chosen the Humanities side. My interest in French was enhanced last summer, when i
realised i have so much free time on my hands so i could as well do something
productive.
So I began studying French on my own during the holidays, but when school started, my
interest faded, so i only studied for class.
But, again, things changed and this week i am staying home to prepare for a contest on
Saturday (again, the romanian Olympiad). My idea is continuing studying no matter what
place i get in the contest and, this time, doing it actively (well, there will be some
periods when i won`t have enough time because my main interest is history and this
takes almost all my time. Plus exams in school, but i will do my best to maintain a
steady pace).
So, here is what i have done today:
Listening: 90 min- watched half of the movie `Der Untergang` in french and listened to
a radio show about the Middle Ages, on France Culture.
Writing: 20 min- wrote some of thoughts in French in my diary
Reading some newspaper articles, revising grammar points and learning some new words:
about 2 hours.
A demain!

Merci beaucoup... pour tout!
Aujourd`hui je me suis dediee entierement au francais.

Huh, you have finally written something in your log. I chose English for writing, as it suits me more than French. However, I've understood most of what you have written, so that means that my French is getting better. I still don't manage to speak fluently and actually say something more complex than "je suis un peu fatigué" or other simple babbled sentences.
Congrats, again, for your result, and keep us in touch whether you will really take part in the national phase of the Olympiad, although I am sure you will.
