Hei liddytime! Good luck with (y)our TAC 2013! I agree we're part of a great team, and even with my very basic Swedish, I also enjoy how similar Swedish, Norwegian and Danish are in writing.

Oh, and I'm so jealous about so many of you who are learning Norwegian :). I'm afraid I'll start Norwegian sooner then I should ;).

Godt Nyttår alle sammen!
Jeg har lært Norsk for to uker!
Det er lettere å skrive enn å forstå det!
Jeg arbeider med Pimsleur og jeg er på Unit 19 nå.
Jeg begynte Assimil Le Norvegien Sans Peine og det er meget nyttig for meg!
Norsk er som engelsk på mange måter! Jeg liker det!

Happy New Year everyone!
I have been learning Norwegian for two weeks now!
It is much easier to write it than to understand it!
I am working with Pimsleur and I am on Unit 19 now.
I also started Assimil Le Norvegien Sans Peine and I am finding it very useful!
Norwegian is like English in so many ways! I really am enjoying it!

veldig underholdende kurs!

That you after three weeks can write this with only three mistakes is remarkable!

Remember that with expressions of time the prepositions may be different in English and Norwegian.

I have sailed for two weeks
Jeg har seilt i to uker.

I will eat in two hours.
Jeg vil spise om to timer.

I read the book two hours ago
Jeg leste boken for to timer siden.

I was reading the book for two hours.
Jeg satt og leste i boken i to timer.

1 The verb always come second in Norwegian. When you start the sentence with an adverb, that means that
you must reverse the normal subject-verb order.

Han spiste en banan i går.
He ate a banana yesterday.

I går spiste han en banan.
Yesterday he ate a banana.

Remember never to use capital letters for nationalities (see the team thread, and do CHALLENGE nr. 2:-)

When you use the verb to want (vill) you do not use "å" in front of the verb. I'll see If I can find a more general
rule for it.

3 Plurals finish in R in Norwegian.

But all in all- very well done!

Mange takk gudmor!!!
Those are very helpful comments.
I plan to do the capital letter exercise soon when I have a little more Norwegian under my belt. ;-)

I am happy to hear that! And please note that I am being "difficult" in the sense that I correct everything.
Everybody would of course have understood you even with capital letters, it is in fact a mistake made by
Norwegian speakers themselves. I have seen it even here on the forum. However it is a mistake you can
easily avoid if you nip it in the bud, so I decided to include it. Plus it fit nicely with the little grammar lesson I
had already given in the team thread :-)

Synd, jeg kan ikke si mye ennå.
Jeg kan snakke om mat, drikke, reiser til Norge, venner, barn og tall.
Ikke så mye!
SECOND VIKING CHALLENGE

Write 3 sentences where you try to use as many of the words which in English are spelled with capital letters, and
in Norwegian (and as far as I know also Swedish and Danish) are spelled with regular letters as possible.

Han er en riktig nordmann, men han snakker godt engelsk.
Neste fredag, vil det være den syttende mai.
Jeg liker ikke januar, er det for kaldt og ufyselig.

I am really enjoying learning Norsk. I'm not sure how badly my accent is butchering the language, but it is really
fun to get my mouth around a booming, emphatic sentence of Norwegian. It is also fun following my fellow
Vikings' logs. Even though the majority of you seem to be studying Swedish or Danish, I can definitely follow
along with my ground level Norwegian! It is so exciting that by learning one Scandinavian language, it is almost
like getting "three for one"

Now that I have finished the Pimsleur course, I'll plan on concentrating on Assimil full time. Hopefully I will be
able to complete a lesson a day, but we shall see... stay tuned!
