I recently found out that a friend of mine went to Korea for a short vacation (school's
out); and I realized that this would be a great opportunity to get my hands on some
books!

Because I did not anticipate this, I haven't a single clue what books I should ask him
to bring for me. Do any of you have any suggestions? I would prefer non-friction
because I think the vocabulary would be more practical for daily use. Does anyone have
any good reads to suggest?

(I'm at the level where I can understand grasp newspaper articles with the help of a
dictionary every few words. ~B2)

It really depends on what you're interested in. Several friends recommended 아프니까 청춘이다, a book about the trials and tribulations of being in one's twenties. It seems to be/have been quite popular in Korea this year.

I'm currently reading 나는 나를 파괴할 권리가 있다, which is a novel and a bit crass content-wise (about a person whose job is to help people commit suicide), but it's a fairly easy read and contains useful vocabulary.

You could check them out on yes24.com, they have 20 preview pages per book.

Wow, thanks for the input! I'll be sure to check these out! I also saw reviews of "아프니
까 청춘이다" on 영풍's website :)
