MARCH UPDATE
Spanish: 74 hours + 200 pages of reading +
1. 1 season of Fisica o Quimica. I can understand about 80%-90% or more without
subtitles, so I guess that's all right.
2. Notes in Spanish Advanced podcasts: all of them twice.
3. USO de gramatica B1-B2: units 22-70. I originally hoped to finish this book, but it
seems that one needs more time to understand the grammar thoroughly.
4. Latinoamerica: su civilizacion y cultura, pages 78-249.
5. Harry Potter 1 pages 1-31(e-book)
6. Weekly 2.5 hour lessons
Overall, I consider this month to be a success for Spanish. Many hours invested, and
some milestones.
Japanese: 34.5 hours
1. Assimil active stage 50-63
2. Let's Learn Japanese videos 9-36: Too easy for me now! I'll check out some Japanese
drama when I have time.
3. Japanese Podcasts Beginner Series: 6.5 hr This podcast series presented new
vocabulary and some grammar points in manageable podcasts, which were pretty useful for
me.
4. Language exchanges 7 hr: I joined a Language-exchange club at National Taiwan
University, and met several Japanese studying Chinese there. I had a great time doing
LE with them, and I'm pretty satisfied with what my Japanese is like now.
Overall, Japanese is also a success! I was a little surprised with my new intermediate
Japanese conversational skills.
Thai: 24 hr
1. Thai Lakorn: 15 hr. Again I have to say that watching sit-coms, telenovelas or
whatever in your Target Language is extremely useful for increasing vocabulary. It also
has a built-in SRS system, for you can hear the most common-used vocabulary again and
again. The stuff not seen in textbooks. However, I really do think it's time-consuming.
2. NHK Thai podcasts: mostly passive listening.
3. Speak like a Thai 1-100 This course has about 500 phrases and sayings, and most of
them are quite colloquial. Good supplement.
4. 2 GLOSS lessons for the March Challenge.
5. 3 hours of language exchange
I was actually disappointed by my small progress in Thai, if there was any. I stumbled
for words and struggled to make full sentences during the Language exchange sessions.
In April, I hope that I can manage my time better, and balance my different languages.
Cantonese: 28.5 hours of podcasts
Nothing special.

Wow, you got a lot done in March overall! I wouldn't worry about the small progress in Thai, I've noticed that sometimes progress just isn't so apparent at the moment, but still adds up later.
