Same here. I'd much prefer European French, but I'll take what I can get.

Yeees I do this a lot! ♥
I love hockey too but I can't watch it online, too difficult to see the puck loooool.

I've learned surprisingly many words that are useful outside the topic, and I've gained confidence not only at the intermediate level, but even as a beginner.

And lol, so true about not considering any recordings too fast! My favourite commentator is Auriemma! He's also more emotional than any audiobook narrator :D (and I don't even support Napoli... but I love how in Italy there are commentators that openly support this or that team!)

Hehe, we call such a person a "homer".

nooo, it's not like that. it's official. nice of them to realize that fans actually WANT to listen to someone supporting their team.
like, i've seen how the person doing the streaming would switch between "neutral" and "napoli fan".

But that's pretty much what a homer is :-). Most teams are strongly associated with a particular broadcaster or pair of broadcasters and over time their bias toward the team that they cover shows. Of course, it's fine for the audience since most of them are fans of the team anyway as you note.

You're probably familiar with the play-by-play of Antero Mertaranta, right? ;-)

but it's done officially. and anyone who doesn't want can switch to a neutral commentator. Auriemma doesn't abuse his position as a commentator, it's his job to provide the commentary specifically for Napoli fans, and anyone who isn't one is listening at their own risk.

No but the voice is familiar of course, I watched a lot of hockey videos on youtube when I needed to improve my listening. Did you mean any specific vid? Also OMG, I found a cool video of a Russian shadowing Mertaranta. Impressive.

One of my favorite things about adding Spanish to my list of languages I'm semi-seriously
studying is the availability of NBA blogs and telecasts in that language. It's always
great to combine learning and procrastination.

Heh, Spanish kinda added itself to my list because Spain and South America are so important football-wise :)
