Hello All,
I was wondering what opinions you all have on what the best language(s) is (are) for meeting women. Did anyone here meet there partner/significant other because they were fluent in a specific language? Or for women, is there a particular foreign language that you prefer to hear? Do foreign women enjoy meeting men who can speak their native language?
Just curious.
Thanks for your opinions,

To be honest, I don't think there are a specific few languages that are winners with women, but I reckon it's safe to say that if there's a particular woman in mind, she would be very impressed if you went to the effort to learn her language just to speak to her. Of course, you'd still have to show that you're loving and trustworthy, but that goes without saying!

Hmm... I'm not so sure about the quality of this website. There's no mention of Assimil, FSI nor Michel Thomas! Yes, the methods here are definitely different to what I'm used to!
:D

Learning a foreign language to pick up women? IMHO, It is at least as good a reason as learning a foreign language to get a job.
Using your language skills to impress other English speaking women in the U.S. hasn't been very effective in my experience. However, if you are in another country and attempt to speak their language, with no ego, and an honest desire to learn, while being friendly and open, you will be SHOCKED at how easily it can get you laid. I know I was.
My first experience with this happened by chance. I had been studying French and took my first trip to Europe at 28. While I was in Paris at one of the museums, I struck up a conversation with one of the employees. I did it mostly to practice my French as I knew I had no chance with a girl this hot. Imagine my surprise when she gave me her number without me asking for it! Stuff like that NEVER happened to me before. I just wasn't "That Guy" who women approach. I was so thrown off by it that I sat on a bench outside the museum just thinking about how great it was. By chance, she was leaving work and saw me at the bench. We talked some more and she wanted to go out right then and there. I told her that I would meet her the next day. We spend the next several days (and nights) together. I even canceled my trip to Italy so I could spend more time having fun with her in Paris.
When I got back to the U.S. I wondered if the same thing would happen in other countries with other languages. I like tall curvy women with long black hair, so obviously Latin America was the logical choice. I started studying Spanish and decided to test it out in the Dominican Republic. WOW!! I was able to pick unbelievably hot girls down there, simply because I was an American who spoke some of their language. The same thing happened in Costa Rica and Colombia. It was even more effective in Colombia, since there are nowhere near as many Americans traveling to Colombia as Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. Obviously, not every Latina is going to sleep with me because of my ability to speak a little Spanish, but several (more than enough for me) did. I even made several business contacts down there and have been working much more in Latin America.
The downside it is that this has seriously screwed up my desire to date American girls that I can pick up here. I just don't have the energy to work hard to pick up a girl In Illinois who is a "4" or "5" when I can easily get a girl in Colombia who is a "9" or "10". My last date with a local girl was a few months ago. She was of average looks, but a little overweight. In the middle of the date, she started talking about how hard she makes guys work before they get intimate. She jokingly said "I won't make a guy beg TOO MUCH, but he has to beg A LITTLE". less than 2 minutes later, my phone rings and it is a girl from Colombia that I had been seeing. She was calling to thank me for the book I gave her son for his birthday, and wanted to know when I was coming back to Colombia.
The women I was with overheard me on the phone speaking Spanish and asked me about who I was talking to. I was honest and told her who it was. I ended the date early because I just could not think of a good reason to continue a date with a girl that I wasn't interested in. I certainly wasn't willing to put forth a bunch of effort or“beg” her in order to get closer to her. My standards are completely normal when I am in Latin America, but unrealistically high in the U.S.. There is absolutely nothing wrong with American girls, they are great.
My opinion is to figure out what "type" of girl you are attracted to (tall/short, petite/curvy, light/dark, blonde/brunette). Then find non-English speaking countries that have those types of girls. Next learn some of the language. Finally travel there and see what happens. Worst case scenario, you don't get laid, but you learn a knew language and travel to a new country. Thats a pretty good deal.

This topic comes up at my meetups. I never have anything to add because I am the boring old guy with a family. I do, however, get looked to for "wisdom" for some reason... probably because I am the old guy with a family.
Anyway, the argument seems to be between Spanish, French and recently Russian. Spanish for the reasons mentioned in the previous post. The previous poster's experiences seem to be fairly common among young male learners of Spanish. I find it amazing, but, anyway, I guess that is life now in the 2000s. The consensus, however, is that Spanish does not help as much in the US.
French, on the other hand, apparently helps with American women, but is not as helpful as Spanish overseas. The members who can speak both French and Spanish say this distinction is painfully obvious and non-debatable.
Recently there has been an advocate for Russian who says there are many more young Russian women than men and Russian women don't like Russian men, but love Americans. I do note that on sharedtalk it is quite noticeable that there are always a very large amount of young Russian women looking for English language exchange partners.
Anyway, this topic is quite old and the posters that contributed don't participate here anymore am wondering if there is any new information to add on the subject.
My $0.02 is that I don't know how much of it has to do with the language at all. It seems to me cultural. For example, if a non-Spanish speaking American went to Latin America could/would he have just as much success as a Spanish speaker? If a French speaking American went to France would/could he fail just as badly as a non-French Speaking American?

These are the sentences that I thought were extremely jerkish and offensive to woman.
Dude, not cool. Maybe I'm just too nice of a guy, but I definitely don't think it is right to just objectify women based on their looks and just want to learn languages to get "laid." I thought that knowing languages would expand your dating pool and language exchanges would be good for meeting women since the two people have something in common already.
I really hope that you don't look at women as objects. :(
