Pretty much everybody, male and female, has at some point found themselves attracted to a foreigner with a cute accent. Sean Connery and Jane Birkin (in France) have certainly both used their accents to good effect in their professional careers.
One suggestion, however: HTLAL is a language learning site, not a pickup artist site. Bragging about the conversations you've had and the books you've read is on topic (and you'll find an appreciative audience). Bragging about the number and "rating" of your sexual conquests is not.

That seems to me like a much more efficient method and worthwhile endeavour than spending months learning a language *just in case*. |

I don't think I could have found my boyfriend and recognized him as the right man if I had not been able to speak his language first.
I do agree that spending months learning a language *just in case* is not really efficient or worthwhile though. |

How do you know you didn't miss an even better man because you didn't happen to speak another language?

How can it be? There are more men than women under 30, but there are many more women than
men among seniors.
I think that English is the most useful language because it's probably the most widely
known in the world.

Because there is no better man for me :)
More seriously, I don't but I am not sure where you are going with that. The fact remains that I learnt his language then found him and that doing it the other way around would not have been possible for him and I.

Why are there more Russian women than men? Good question. I personally don't know, but the answer given at my meetup, after consulting with a local Russian man, apparently is that Russian men simply die, leave Russia and disappear at a much faster rate than Russian women. He said that Russia has had a lot of wars and also Russian men live very unhealthy lives (I am merely repeating what this man said and am not vouching for the authenticity of his statements). It sounded kind of odd to me, but the Russian man definitely confirmed the fact. He also seemed to wholeheartedly agree that Russian is a very good option for meeting women.
On a more serious note, I find it somewhat perplexing that people actually think someone would learn a language as a way to meet women. I don't think that is what happens at all. Those people do not exist anywhere. People want to (or have to) learn a language and this ends up being an important factor for some (usually young men). The suggestion that there are people out there who say "wow, I want to meet women... I think I will go learn a language" seems totally unreasonable. The more likely situation is that someone is choosing a language in high school or college or has already decided to learn a language and this information then ends up being an important factor.

As an aside, yes, Russia is facing a big demographic crisis in terms of future population such that their politicians have tried to encourage women to have more kids.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Russia
"A WHO press-release in 2000, on the other hand, reported widespread alcohol abuse in Russia being used as the most common explanation of higher men's mortality.[24]"
"Government measures to halt the demographic crisis was a key subject of Vladimir Putin's 2006 state of the nation address.[28] As a result, a national programme was developed with the goal to reverse the trend by 2020."
Life Expectancy:
"total population: 70.3 years[33]
male: 64.3 years
female: 76.1 years (2011)[50]"

The answer is easy. The difference between expected life duration between men and women
is huge. The migration works in favor of the number of men. The immigration to Russia
is much bigger than the emigration from Russia, and there are more men that women among
immigrants.
The excess of women is felt well among old people, but among young people (under 30)
there are more men than women in Russia because there are born more boys than girls,
like in the whole world, and the death rate among children is low in Russia.

That's odd. I don't have any data to confirm, but I've always heard that in the world more girls are born in comparison to boys.
