How did you get on in the end? Did you ever finish programmatic?

I'm surprised nobody suggested shadowing last time around. If you still want to improve your speaking fluency, it's a great idea.

That's... brave of you to do three hours a day of FSI Programmatic. I couldn't even fathom doing that. Good luck.

well i did not finish programmatic but rather reached the middle of volume 2.
I think my most important decision was to learn with a tutor everyday for the 2.5
months of summer.
that was back in July-August-September.
I could easily finish Programmatic but i stopped learning active Spanish somewhere
between October and November. There's not really any good excuse why i stopped. i guess
part of it is the fault of having a new girlfriend and starting the second year of UNI
which both take a lot of my time.
I still though watch Colombian television on the internet from time to time and to my
surprise my listening skills have remained intact.
My girlfriend wants to learn Spanish too so my best bet now to get back again into
learning will be doing FSI sessions with her in the evenings.
What about you guys, has anybody reached his goals?

broke up with the girlfriend so now i have spare time.
i have been learning for the past 2 weeks, doing FSI programmatic volume 2 unidad 32-33,
talking to natives and watching movies.
It seems like since October 2011 until now, my Spanish not only hasn't suffered but
gotten better. Im starting to talk more fluently when i get the chance to practice over
skype.

Game Over. I´ve done it. Im fluent in Spanish.
it took me only 2 and a half years, not 3 months like supposedly I thought it would.
countless hours of learning paid off.
my last message was about my then upcoming trip to Colombia. As it turned out,
throughout the whole month till the flight, i worked my butt off to practice my Spanish
at skype with natives colombians.
The whole 2 weeks i was there, i got to practice so much that by the end of the trip i
knew i could be classified as fluent.
A lot of stuff changed since the trip. I got a Colombian girlfriend, broke up with her.
And well you can say that now i use my Spanish by watching local television and
listening to the radio.
i want to give a warmth gratitude to all who have read my blog. don´t think i would
come back till maybe i will feel like tackling another language. I enjoyed this forum a
lot.
Last i would like to summarize a journey of 2.5 years into a few sentences. Here is
what was my way of learning the Spanish language (in order by frequency of use):
1) Spanish Programmatic
2) livemocha.com
3) skype
4) http://www.noticiascaracol.com/informativos/septimodia
5) local radio
6) books
Thank you all

Thanks for the septimodia link. I'm always trying to improve my listening comprehension. And congratulations on
your success! 2 1/2 years is longer than 3 months for sure, but getting good ALWAYS takes more time than you
think it will. And now Spanish is yours, something to enjoy using rather than "work on." I might even be inspired to
try skype.
