I stumbled upon his name in the context of language learning on youtube and then looked
for his material on amazon.com and nearly passed out. I have observed some psychopaths
or sellers trying to sell Michel Thomas cd's for over $2,000.00! Is his material that
good or is there some better way? I've read his praises and saw his list of celebrity
clients over the years and wasn't impressed. I don't think any of the celebrities were renowned for their multilingual abilities. Anyone that runs around too scared to sow
seed because there is a dark cloud in the sky will doubtless not have a harvest.
Does anyone know how to get some affordable and reasonable priced Michel Thomas material?
I am still studying Spanish (verb tenses are my weak area).

Some people have been known to find libraries extraordinarily useful in their language
learning endeavors.

Well, I don't know where you've looked, but I'd say that his packs are more in the range of 50-70£ (which is far from 2000$ even if you're counting in Taiwan dollars).
And that's for the legal options.

The publisher of the Michel Thomas method series just repackaged the whole line if I'm
not mistaken. I noticed that the old edition went on sale around here about six months
ago at a deeply discounted price ($12.99 CAD). You might find a few left at the Indigo
bookstore website.

If the CDs you speak of are the ones that say "Es posible/C'est possible" on them, then
that is a version for use in schools with CDs, workbooks etc and are sold at a much
higher price.
MT School Version Website
Having had a look myself though, I see what you mean. There are a number of the
original line of courses (i.e. Foundation-Advanced etc. format) selling at stupidly
inflated prices. This gives a breakdown of the newest re-marketed editions:
MT Method Current Courses
While some sellers are selling the old editions of the courses at inflated prices, I
see the marketers have also inflated the claims of the efficacy of the products...

You should be able to find used copies cheaply enough on eBay though, alongside overly
expensive ones.

I forgot all about ebay. Maybe I can locate some reasonably priced ones soon when I
scrape up some more money. I will definitely take some of the suggestions that I read on
here. Thanks for your input folks.
