Finnish
Today I reviewed the conjugation of the present tense for the verb to be - olla
minä olen
sinä olet
hän on
me olemme
te olette
he ovat
I then reviewed words for the days of the week along with the word for "tomorrow" thus
using the verb olla, I can now say " it's ..." for example today: on torstai.
tomorrow is (...) - Huomenna, on (perjantai)
then after reading about the suffix endings -ni and -si I learnt today the question
"mikä sinun nimesi on?"

Olen utelias. Miten opiskelet suomea? Mitä kirjoja tai kursseja käytät?

So now is of course 2013 and so it's officially TAC time!
I've not been doing as much as I would like to have been so far as I have a flu, but I
have done a few things today and that is what I'd like to write about in this little
entry for today.
Finnish
- To allow myself to start having a wider range of vocabulary I have started using
Finnish on memrise, I've planted about 25 words and harvested 16 words.
- I've also been using
http://donnerwetter.kielikeskus.helsinki.fi/FinnishForForeig ners/parts-index.htm - to
help expand upon vocabulary.
In terms of mainly what i've learnt today is:
päivä - day
viikko - week
kuukausi - month
vuosi - year
joka päivä - every day
joka viikko - every week
joka kuukausi - every month
joka vuosi - every year

Small update for now, might write again later.
I've been hectic with job interviews so I've not had much study time!
Finnish
I've basically reviewed everything that I've done so far and I've finally got around to
putting the Teach Yourself CDs onto my laptop, which I've started listening to. I've
done lesson one, so i've learnt things such as " anteeksi, en ymmärrä " and " minä
ymmärrän "
I've also been using memrise to build upon vocabulary alongside video tutorials that
are on the inFinnish channel on youtube.
Phrases which I've learnt from the video include:
ole hyvä - you're welcome
puhutko suomalainen? - do you speak Finnish?
mikä sinun nimesi on? - what is your name?
minun nimeni on ... - my name is ...
olettko kunnossa? - are you okay?
olen kunnossa - i'm okay
kiitos kysymästä - thanks for asking
mikä on ...? - where is ...?
olen allerginen - I'm allergic
Korean
Using memrise to learn how to read Korean has done wonders for me, i've learnt half-way
and already i'm able to pick up letters here and there when seeing Korean words.

Finnish
What I've been working most recently was an impromptu 'lesson' by a Finnish friend of
mine who helped me with a query that I had.
I've learnt the inessiivi case, as my friend and I were talking about the
weather as it's been snowing here in the UK so I asked her what the opposite to
kyllä (cold) was and she told me that it was lämmin(warm)
So I learnt that the inessiivi case refers to something being in the state of or in
something, so englannissa = in England, suomessa = in Finland
The phrase I learnt was englannissa on kylmä = in England it is cold.

A month on and i've not done much in the last 2 weeks given me having to travel for job
interviews, so i've been mainly working on reviewing everything so far.

I'll be eagerly following your Finnish progress! I also think it's a fascinating language
with beautiful sounds and a unique grammar structure. Good luck!
