I wouldn't try it, personally. It would affect one's ability to think or speak the TL fluently, and speech could end up
word-for-word translation. My Irish teacher did recommend this though, saying that when we talk with Irish
speakers/other learners, the English word shouldn't exist anymore, so it's not the first time I've heard of this
method.
