Is just using the word "racism" in a post tantamount to accusing someone of it? No one here has done that. @Cainntear just said that there is "a fine line between humor and racism". He then went on to provide examples to contradict those stereotypes in his part of the world. He did not accuse the OP of racism nor did I. I just said that it is indeed a very fine line, which it is. A fine line that the OP has chosen to walk in starting a few other similar language/ethnic stereotype threads recently. That doesn't mean that she has crossed that line yet. Implicit in the phrase "walking a fine line" is being near the edge of falling off of it.

When a member starts a thread like this that features language/ethnic stereotypes they know that they are walking that fine line. They must expect and I dare say, even want, a bit of controversy to ensue. Is it really worth it for the sake of a few cheap laughs?

Thank you.

My implication wasn't "that's racist and I'm offended", it was "that may be construed as racism and may cause offense.

Whether I think it racist/offensive or not was not stated, and not at all relevant to what I had to say.

Wise words as always, and I do see your point. I think you underestimate, though, what it must feel like for a newbie to have some of the heavy guns of the forum line up to critizise her.
