Good idea - why should we need to enquire whether a female person is married or not? Now the French just need to drop "tu" and use "vous" instead like the English, so that we don't have to judge whether we are old enough or close enough to allow ourselves to be impolite and 'tutoyer' a person. Or say "tu" to everybody like the Danes.
