Since in your log you mentioned that your main goal was to improve spoken German, I'd suggest that you use the chat feature at busuu to get into conversations with locals on specific topics. Goethe Institute or other type of tutoring, or language tandem exchange are probably good sources too. If you want to work alone - I'd use shadowing of either Assimil material or Germanpod101 or any other podcast. All these oral repetition and production are going to help with spoken German. Thanks! I'm definitely considering to hire a Goethe Institute tutor or enrolling in a intensive course next February. Anyway, extra home activities will be welcome. Spending too much time "foruming" (makes me think of ants) here and elsewhere so I really should waste less time and focus on learning.
But if I'm going to waste time at least I can do it in a foreign language. I recommend some German humor! Bully und Rick <-- politically incorrect, socially unacceptable but funny enough, click only if your skin is thick. My daughter introduced me to them! Activity completed  German

I've completed my planned activity a week early, so I'm going to consolidate my cards and clean up Anki. Clean up the script learning and set up my Ipod like I had for German. Hi zenmonkey, it is great to see you back posting, I always enjoyed following your log
posts previously, though I had to stop at one point out of jealousy when I read quite a while ago that dinner for your family involved something like four languages and I realized all I was having for dinner was half a sandwich and a scolding from Michel Thomas.

I think that having an environment that helps with languages is a real positive element in my work and I wanted to give my daughters the same experience - my father speaks or spoke a bunch of languages to various levels and as I am the immigrant son of the immigrant son of the immigrant son ... it sort of continues to be an important cultural element. In high school I was voted "most likely to live abroad and marry a foreigner" in a bilingual school half full of 3rd culture kids. We moved to Germany partially to assure the language learning focus. The girls are well on their way to being polyglots without knowing it. I'm always amazed when we have teenager post here stating that they have parents that do not support their quest for languages! I'm not sure about the use of a worksheet to evaluate the time I spend doing an activity - I'm afraid it is more administration that I want to do and I am uncertain how it would give me info that would be useful to my learning.
Download the LwT software and will try to install it on my server for German mostly. I know I need to pass less time doing non-learning but learning-related "busy" work. - ANKI -- a couple hundred cards as I reactivate that part of my learning. About a week behind right now in order to catch up with the "lost" stack. - Assimil to 83, 84 is a lesson Konjunktiv II (I'll read that today) Arabic
- ANKI is now cleaned up and I've set it with three fields (meaning, script, pronounciation) and split the alphabet and words in different sections. Up to date, but still need to enter a bunch of letters (which I already have on FmB -- ie. I need to do less admin and more learning). - downloaded FSI Arabic to see ... - installed my old Rosetta Stone (2.x) Arabic and used them for about half an hour - these are awful -The old sofware is not better after a long pause: awful method, awful interface. From what I've seen, the new method is an improvement but I have not tried it (and won't at that price.) Installed LwT and played around with it for German with several texts from P. K. Dick and wikipedia. Great program.
Yesterday was a big day for German. For reference - a great source of content for LwT in German is the RSS feed from DW Top Thema mit Vokabeln - contains text plus links to the audio: DW RSS Feed Activity completed German
- LwT - about 2 hours - ANKI - a hundred cards - busuu - 48% of B1 - Assimil to 85 (still need to read 84) - If I don't get cracking on my book - I'm not going to meet obj. Arabic

Slowed down - big drive day. Yesterday got a lot of language time.
It is often worth re-thinking about the method so it does not become mechanical (in the wrong way) - re-read Things to do with Assimil thread and slowed down on ... Activity Completed German
Assimil 86 - LTG (Listen Target Language), LTG/RSL, LTG/RTG, LTG/RTG paused and repeat sentences, will shadow in car (times x), need to put unknown words/phrases into Anki in sentence, maybe script out? Anki - about 600 behind. A week? busuu - did a video unit (excellent) on microcredits - It forced me to write a little. Arabic
Assimil 1-2 are now in Anki. Having problems with the Arabic keyboard -- the article in اُلْكَاتِبُ, the starting "al" I think is wrong but I do not seem to find the same wasla symbol for the alif on my keyboard as in the book. I'm not sure I should care too much if this is a print style issue or keyboard selection. Anki - up to date. More complaints: -- Anyway I can't find any on-line translators that use vowels to check. -- Why is Arabic so small on the screen, I'm going to go blind!  Portuguese
