Sure but you should be able to say at least basic things correctly. IDK, to me only Icelandic is monstrous enough that it's normal to be unable to produce a single correct utterance for some time.

friends is a simple sentence but У меня пять друзей. Do you think друзей is easy to
predict?

Yeah, what counts as simple depends on the language.
