As I am enjoying probably the last long summer holidays for a long time, I might go
somewhere for a bit of immersion. I do not want to wash the dishes somewhere in hope I
might learn the language meanwhile, I would prefer to go for an intensive
conversational course of either level B2/C1 French or B1/B2 Spanish or B1 German which
are levels I hope to be at in late August/early September. I would like to spend two
weeks (ideally two weeks, in reality probably less, depends on the offers and prices)
in the country where the language is spoken. There are so many language schools
searchable through google that it is hard to choose from so I would love to hear your
references.

What I would like:

-staying in a family.

-a language school with good quality teachers, especially such who are able to manage a
good conversational course and really help me widen my speaking abilities

-reasonable number of people in a class

-a place wherefrom I can go for trips to interesting places

-reasonable price. I know it is not a cheap thing to go somewhere like this, I have
some money and could ask my family for support (an early birthday present) but still,
some of the prices are outrageous.

-last and "least" important- the sea.

So, if you have any tip, thanks a lot in advance for it. :-)

Whenever I have done an immersion program I have always found that the best value for my
money was at a (public) University.

ie. French at the Universite du Quebec and Spanish at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma
de Mexico.

Of course, from Europe, the added flight cost might not make North America an inexpensive
option for you, but I assume that some European universities might offer summer immersion
programs.

Actually not much, from what I have found. They do have some and for free (you just pay
the other costs and the tuition is free) based on some bilateral agreements but there
are only few places and there are often restrictions (such as only those who study the
language at university or only future teachers of the language) :-(

Of course, I thought of studying something else in the language but 1.can't be done
during summer for obvious reasons 2.can't be done without becoming a regular student
(getting through the selection, moving to the country to study,...) which is something
really different.

There is such a summer language school of Czech here in Prague, organised by the
Charles University but I have found no such thing elsewhere. I may have just searched
badly, if you know of anything like that, please tell me. Quebec and Mexico are
unfortunately too far and expensive to get there.

Cavesa, I don't know what kind of price range you're looking at, but I've posted a few notes on a programme I
attended in Paris (and also mentioned a couple of others), in this thread (Starting with post #2):
http://how-to-learn-any-language.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?T ID=22755&PN=1&TPN=1#261395

Please copy and paste, removing any spaces inserted by the forum software.

The ICP has doesn't have anything shorter than one-month, but l'Institut Parisien and France Langue both have
weekly options; and France Langue also has second location in Nice.
