As you can see from my other thread here, I've been looking at some of the options for
studying Danish in Denmark.
As well as the Folk High Schools, anyone who works or studies in Denmark, i.e. anyone
with a residence permit, is legally entitled to up to 3 years of Danish tuition,
provided by the local authority (of most big cities).
Anyone who is definitely planning to work or study there will probably have found out
about this, but if anyone is just considering their options, and hasn't yet got all the
information together, well, the fact that you will be entitled to free Danish lessons
might well be an extra little incentive to make the move.
That's not me however, i.e. I'm not planning to move to Denmark or become a student
there. But I would quite like to do a language course there for, say, a few weeks.
Looking here:
www.internationalcommunity.dk/lists/304/free-danish-language -courses-%C3%A5rhus
(Remove the space)
it seems that people who do not qualify for the free lessons may still attend, but for
a fee of typically 70 Kr per lesson, which sounds pretty competitive, I would have
thought.
Although that link refers to Ã…rhus, it also describes the situation in a general way
that relates to any sizeable city.
I am going to make some further inquiries to see how realistic it might be to take
these lessons while there for say 1,2,3 or probably at most 4 weeks.
In the meantime I pass the link and information on to anyone else who may have been
tentatively thinking of studying Danish in Denmark.
Any other recommendation would of course also be welcome.
