One tip for you, slightly unrelated to language learning but perhaps useful in combination with the blog:
You can download videos from many sources including Česká televize with this downloader
The page is completely in Czech, the program is for Windows but working in Linux under Wine. For download, scroll almost to the bottom of the page. You can find the download links just above the comments.

Online find:
Czech to Slovak translator
This is an online demo, with max. of 5000 characters. Useful for the learners of both languages to see the differences.

I found this experimental automatic collocations dictionary:
http://www.sketchengine.co.uk/ske.cgi?page =acd&article=a&lan guage=Czech
I tried some nouns and the results looked good. Perhaps some of the native speakers or
advanced learners could give it a try and tell us their opinion?
Edit: ok, for some reason my links don't work and there's not supposed to be a gap
between lan and guage in the link. I tried to correct it twice but the gap remains. Urgh
...

I took a look at the Czech collocations
The collocations look quite well.
The example sentences are a bit problematic. They are taken from internet, with all the problems there. For example:
V roce 2004 byla část hradu napadena požárem , který vznik neopatrností během stavebních prací . - "official" speak, with either typo or "nespisovná čeština".
(from "rychlost"):
Z obleceni take rosteme rychlosti blesku , tak ani nema smysl toho moc kupovat . - missing accents.
Some tags are a bit mysterious for me, perhaps even mistakes:
prec_verb zemnit : Uvažujme pouze dva parametry A ( zemní práce ) a B ( zakládání ) . "zemní" isn't verb here but an adjective
Me personaly, I would use an concordancer. You put a text or several in (a well written book in txt format, for example) and you can look up the collocations there.

There is a new article on the blog.
This time, now in Czech only + video, the translation will be published on 23.1. You can download all (transcript, vocabulary, translation for the video).
This time, the video is longer - ca. 17 min. I recommend to beginners to concentrate on dialogue (from 3 to c 4 min., from 5 to 8 min. and starting a bit before 10 min up to 14 min.)
Advanced learners could start only with help of transcript and the vocabulary list.
Let's try homework. Who wants can try short writing in Czech. You can choose from following subjects:
- fairy tales (has a fairy tale in your language any fixed formulations at beginning or at the end?)
- travel, journey, tourism
- sport (did you know Jiří Raška? / write about ski jumping / anything else)
