With all of the publicity surrounding supposed Mayan doomsday predictions, here is an interesting article about an indigenous language on the brink of extinction.
"He argues that indigenous tongues are often lost in Mexico, because discrimination pressures speakers in some parts of the country, to hide their indigenous roots. In this article of the
wikipedia, it is said that 90% of the current 7000 languages in the world will go towards extinction by 2050. We can still take measures to preserve the remaining languages, I can't imagine of a world with less than 1,000 languages, with such a loss of cultural and ethnic information in just 40 years.
