A little fix: не имею сто рублей, а имею сто друзей (лучше: у меня нет ста рублей, но
есть сто друзей).
Your posts are fascinating!

And the actual proverb is "Не имей ста рублей, а имей сто друзей" :) Not sure if it was intended to be different.

That was the one I was aiming for - I'll correct it :-)
Why is it имей and not имею by the way?

Имей is the imperative :) It's like giving advice - you should have 100 friends, not 100 roubles. (An introvert's nightmare :D)
edit: this form is rarely needed, also for example in "имей терпение" - have patience/be patient. The imperative is one of the few forms where you can't use "у меня/тебя/... есть".

@serpent: Thank you! Can you also tell me why it is ста рублей but сто друзьей? I don't think I have seen
the first way of spelling 100 before.
@Thanks, Jeff, I am glad you enjoy them :-)
