I am sorry if this topic has already been covered. I can't find this exact topic anywhere though.
Next month, I will be very busy and can only study German for one hour a day. I will spend one slot talking to a native speaker and having them correct me, with no English at all ie not a language exchange. Four days a week I will continue my sentence mining project with a wide variety of media. On two days, I will talk to someone on skype, maybe only half an hour each way in German and English.
How could I make the most of time? I will start with writing a set of questions and trying to expand on these questions with follow up questions. Any other ideas? My spoken level is very low as I have been studying alone for a while and need to activate everything that's in my head.

This is probably fairly obvious, and has nothing to do with language study, but if you have not already got experience of skype or similar technology, it will be a good idea to make sure that your technical setup is as optimal as you can make it (and that of your speaking partner(s) if possible).

I know when I first started using conferencing software in a multi-user, language-learning environment, a lot of the sessions were almost wasted, partly because the software was buggy, but also because people had dodgy mikes, or were not positioning them properly, or volume settings were all wrong.

I know that when first using a headset, I found that the built-in soundcard simply did not give me sufficient hearing volume (admittedly I do have some hearing loss). I was advised to get a headset with a USB soundcard adapter, which I did, and it was a great improvement. These actually cause the normal sound card to be bypassed. Alternativey you can just get the adapter and plug your normal headset into it.
