Mandarin. I'm really not too fond of Asian languages. Japanese is pleasant, but I have no use for it. The languages that I love are all either Germanic or romantic.

Ooh - I thought this thread would be about the last language you could ever learn...as in, if you were unable to learn any more languages after One more, which One would that be? Haha.
But to answer that this thread's really about, I really couldn't say. As Raincrowlee and Chung noted, there are so many languages out there one would never have time to learn anyway...

this weird clicking sound language in africa :)
no...I don't really know...basically of course all those languages I don't really know much about or am not particularly related to in any way...like at the moment maybe serbian or farsi or something....but well, I can't really say that for sure - because of course, maybe I get to know a really nice person from serbia tomorrow and we become friends or something and then I guess my opinion about learning this language will have changed....
see what I mean?...

All the answers are wrong, as none of us have heard them all nor are we familiar with their difficulty, usefulness justifications are weak: kikenyoy plenty of languages that are less useful than Korean, lloydkirk a nice followup on the "Indian" thread. I don't see much point to this except to ultimately piss someone off.

I don't see the harm in this question, since it's the opposite of the question of which language(s) would you most want to learn. Apart from the languages on my profile and hit-list, the thought of working on the thousands of other languages out there that don't interest me doesn't inspire me. Language learning would then become more of a burden on my time and energy. It's one thing to say that you refuse to learn a language because you hate or have a grudge against the people who speak that language. It's another to say that you don't want to learn a language because it isn't useful to you, or because you just don't derive pleasure from learning it.
I don't see how the thread could insult someone. Any rational person knows that we all have our preferences. Who's to say that someone's answer to this question is wrong?
By your logic, I could argue that your own choice of languages per your profile is obliquely insulting to people who don't speak Croatian, English, Italian, French and German, for you haven't learned or expressed interest in learning the rest of the world's languages. You can mean that, can you?
In your case, would you geninunely take offence if I would say that I have the least willingness to learn your native language because I don't like the sound of it? (FYI I have learned some Croatian, so I'm putting this in just for argument's sake.)

Chung, my language list only reflects the fact that I am human and that I can learn only so much, it does not say anything about what I like or dislike. There are dozens of languages on my list (don't get me started) but I ultimately have to decide what I like best, what I consider most useful. Most of the world's languages I will not consider but frankly were they cheap enough to acquire, I'd learn them all.
To answer your other question, yes it would tick me off a bit if the sole purpose was to communicate that you don't like my culture and my language. Thanks a lot. If you were to say, I studied it, it's not up my alley, the sound of it kinda irritates me, maybe it's because I already speak language xx no I wouldn't take offense. I would tell you I have the same problem with a couple of languages that I really want to learn. Maybe that would have been a better subject. This thread has already pretty much covered my whole family and most of the languages we speak (including Vietnamese and Chinese). No, I did not appreciate it and I am a very rational person.
