I'm not a big fan of Esperanto, nor the other conlangs..
High on the no-interest list are Arabic, languages in Asia..
incidentally, around here these would be the most useful.. oh well.

Hm, I think there's no language I wouldn't want to learn but as it's impossible to learn all languages, I have to make choices. Sometimes I like to make a list of 10 languages I'd like to speak fluently. There's always some variation on this list but there are languages which will never make it even close to my top 10, including all artificial languages (which don't really make sense to me), local African languages because I'm just not very interested in African culture and Chinese because I once attended a course and realized that I'm just not able to distinguish the different ways a syllable can be pronounced.Generally speaking, all non-European languages are of little interest for me, so I won't learn them.

Chalk me up as another person who thinks this thread serves no purpose other than getting
people mad. Why not list your reasons why you don't want to belong to this or that ethnicity, why you don't
want to learn about this or that culture, why you don't want to live in this or that country? It's pointless and
just asking for offensive comments.

Rather ironic, if you think that the aim of Esperanto was to replace the wonderful

Wait, what? Since when was Esperanto about replacing the diversity of natural languages? Zamenhof's
goal in creating Esperanto was to have a worldwide second language so that people of different
linguistic backgrounds could communicate with each other. It is a misconception that Esperanto was
intended to be used as a first language to displace other languages the way that English and other major
languages are currently doing. |

For me, it would probably be language too related to the ones I study. Since I study
Japanese, I don't see the need to study Mandarin and Korean. Learning 2000-ish kanji is
enough for me, and I kind of like the kanji/kana combo of Japanese.
I also want to learn Russian and Spanish, so that would by my logic put other romance
and slavic languages further down the list. And the fact that I study German as well
would put Dutch further down the list.
I think that after Japanese, German, Spanish and Russian, I should focus on the
languages of where I end up finding a job.

You might want to take a closer look at the relatedness of those two languages...

When I thought about "related", I thought about the script. I know that those two are
vastly different. What I really meant was that I won't prioritise kanji-using languages
like Mandarin, Cantonese, etc.
Sorry for not being clear enough ;)

Probably French or Arabic, as those are the only two languages I can think of that I honestly dislike. Both sound extremely ugly to my ears, whereas most other languages are either beautiful or interesting or both.
Do I have to pick only one that I wouldn't want to learn? Okay, French. Arabic at least has the bonus cool point of having an interesting script.
EDIT: I also forgot about the conlangs. While I can understand that the concept of conlanging is fun and also a nice way to explore grammar patterns that may exist in natural languages, it makes no sense to me to learn an artificial language like that. While I might take a look at things like Esperanto or Toki Pona for the FUN of it, I wouldn't actually want to learn them.
