I'm looking for a website where I can paste in a chunk of Bengali text and be shown the same material transliterated (not translated) into roman characters.
There seems to be lots of help going in the other direction (typing Bengali in roman characters and producing the Bengali script), but I can't find anything in the other direction.
I'm working on learning the script, but I'm still slow at it. Sometimes it would be a great help to see a quick transliteration -- even if it's not perfect.
Thanks.

Google translate. Make sure you have 'allow phonetic typing' checked

There's also this website for Bengali into IPA, which is more pronunciation-based than Google Translate. I don't think its accuracy is particularly noteworthy though - maybe the script-based version is better in the early stages anyway.

Stelingo, thanks for pointing that out. I had looked at Google Translate but hadn't seen that.

Thanks, Michaelyus. The IPA might present its own challenges, but it's certainly worth checking out. And that page seems to have lots of other interesting stuff on it too.
