I forgot to mention, Youtube! Someone here suggested it too, or Google videos, I believe.
When I set my Youtube location from Worldwide to Japan, a staggering amount of videos and
shows came up, and a lot were full 30-minute and up videos! I f we calculate that to make
a full 2-hour equivalent of a movie, that could also work, right? If it does, then I
think it could help tons for those who don't have a lot of films or TV in their TL.

I'm interested in the 50% challenge although I'm not quite sure, which language I should choose. The obvious choice for me would be Spanish, if it wasn't for the "not higher then B1 limitation". Well, French should be fine. I attended french classes at school for six years but haven't used the language since then. It really frustrates me to own 15 french books or thereabouts for more than 10 years - without ever reading a single one of it. I will start to review the grammar tomorrow so that I can start on time. Luckily, I have everything I need to study French (Assimil - beginner and advanced, other language courses, grammar books, graded readers, dictionaries and so on. I even have french television.)
Another reason for French: In less than one hour I'm in France ...
All that material I have collected over the years and the proximity should keep me going (and I love the language - I've simply been to busy with my University studies and the other languages)! If I succeed, I promise myself a long vacation in France.

I just saw the "maximum B1" rule... What if I don't know my exact level in Spanish? I feel like it oscillates between A2 and B2, depending on the subject and my mood. Can I still participate?

I realize I'm more than a month late, but can I participate? I've been studying German
for about a month, but I'm still at A1 level or so.

yes, with Portuguese :PPPPPP
really if it's only B2 when dealing with familiar subjects, you'd not pass a B2 exam so I suppose your overall level is a (high) B1.
you can also try dialang and see what it says.

No, you are not:-) We do not start until May 1 st. And even if you were you would still be able to join. As for
those who are between A2 and B2 they are still welcome to join. As long as you are not a solid B2 you are
in.

Count me in for Korean! This sounds like an awesome way to expand and build upon my
Korean skills(not to mention the huge book collection I'll be getting).
