Given the long duration of the challenge, I'd also be tempted to add, "Talk with 100 native speakers."

I'm very tempted to do my own version of this for Italian - I'm not really interested in
reading right now but I am interested in speaking, so I'll do the 100 films (most likely
including plenty TV shows) but replace the 100 books with 100 hours of speaking practice
(conversations, shadowing, self-talk, etc.). May 1 is great timing as that's around when
I plan to be completely finished with Assimil, although it could be a slow start as
French is going to be my big focus for May and June.

Here's a question for my fellow bloggers:

Some of you have a nifty widget for measuring your progress and counting how many books/films you've finished. How did you do that? I can't figure it out.

I like this idea a lot (but first you gotta catch 'em all)!

This is a great idea! In my current situation it would be slightly insane to try this (I might have to stalk down all the Koreans in my city), but if you're in the country or planning to go to the country during the 20 months it makes a lot of sense. Actually, it would even be fun to try to do this at home - I imagine how I'd have to shamelessly bother random Koreans on the street to find these 100 people.

The easiest way, if you can't visit the country or find a large immigrant community, would be to find people to speak to on Skype.
