I am thinking more in the lines of doubling or tripling the

think that through and see how that can be done practically. We can't use the same bot,
I cannot possibly ask surrealix to do a new one with another 50 hours work, but I
suppose I could open a new thread for those who want to do a challenge for languages in
which they are more advanced. |

I guess this is the point where I chime in. Because the features needed for another
type of challenge are already in the bot (recording books, movies, etc), it's the work
of a moment to add a new category with different targets. If you come up with a name
for the challenge, and target numbers for books, films, conversations and writings (or
even multiple variations, as with the half/duper challenges), then it'll take me less
than 10 minutes to add it once I'm back in range of a computer. |

thanks Surrealix! I thought that should be the case but I haven't read the API (unlike you).

Can we have a name for doing several Super/half challenges? :P
Kinda sad how the name super duper was coined by Kerrie when I listed my goals...but I can't even really do what's now called super duper :S
basically it's a blow to my self-confidence that I'm not doing the biggest challenges available XD

I have a question about children's picture books and bilingual texts.
Would you consider the page count to be half of what it is (100 pages = 50 pages for our purpose)?
How many books would those be considered? I'm thinking about borrowing several picture books from the library and reading them a few times. I don't know how much text is in one of those books, and I don't know if anyone would frown on me for reading picture books and counting 100 pages of that to my total. Most of the books are 30-50 pages long.
With bilingul texts, obviously the page count is half because half of the book is in English.
Would using something like book2 be acceptable? It's about 100 pages, but like I said, it's bilingual so it would count as 50 pages for our purposes.
Sorry to get nitpicky, but I'd like to have answers.

As for parallel texts, it depends on the book. Ilya Frank's method includes rereading the text without the translation, so just 1/3 of the book is in your L1.

If the scope continues to grow at this rate, we'll soon no doubt be queuing up for a Super Duper Whopper Polyglot Challenge with Extra Cheese and a side order of Wanderlust Onion Rings! (lol)
