I am now doing the 6 Week Challenge in Russian, the Super Challenge in Spanish, and
planning to finish my beginner's Welsh course this summer as well as preparing for the
elementary Arabic class that I'll be attending this fall. And I feel great! :)

One little problem... how should I count m-books? :D
Oh, and as far as I can see, it's impossible to add pieces of writing while participating in Half Super Change?

I fear that the only way this would be completely "fair" would be if we were listed in different categories, and
I would assume that this is not really feasible. Having one "class" for the Advanced Super Challenges, one
for the Super Challenge and one for the Half Super Challenge and then rank them according to percentage
of goals fulfilled would be as close as you can get to making the apples and pears into peapples :-)
No matter how it is done I think those who have taken on several Super Challenges should get credit for
their combined work. As for counting the work of those who do the Advanced Super Challenge I would
agree that it makes sense to only count 50% (assuming that there are not different classes). The advanced
challenge is double as much work because it is supposed to be much easier. In Russian, reading a book
takes me a week with a lot of free time( 40-50 hours) Reading a book in French could be done in a couple
of good evenings ( say 9-10 hours).

I think a simple solution would be NOT to rank the main table, but list it alphabetically. This would be more convenient as well for those who have more than one language challenge, since our separate languages would appear side by side.
For ranking (and I know I'm asking you to do more work!) have a separate table which adds up the total work done by each participant. So if I have read 2 books, written 3 things and watched 5 films, I would have the same score as a person who watched 10 films in two different languages. It seems to me this is the simplest way to rank us, and it would be fair. That way I can compete with someone doing a superduper challenge because they don't automatically outrank me simply by having one conversation. Also, those doing 3-4 languages won't be outranked by those only doing one language.
I'm not incredibly fussed about rank, I mainly like seeing my own numbers climb! But, on the other hand, in the 6wc, I often did extra work simply because my nearest competitor was getting ahead of me!

Well, as someone who does several half-challenges, I don't mind simply being in the same category. Will encourage everyone to question whether they really can't do the full challenge :P The level is the same so it seems fair.
I'd say even the advanced challenge doesn't have to be halved for the time being... only when they start getting too far ahead :D

I'm assuming that participants didn't choose Half challenges because they want an easy
challenge, they chose them because that's the most they can manage given the difficulty
of the language or given their other commitments (other languages + realf life). And
participants choosing Super Duper Mega challenges chose those because they have more time
or expect to find the challenge easier. Because of this, I believe that the fairest
ranking would calculate the overall percentage of completion, i. e. how far people are
from their chosen goal. If someone does 2/100 books, 2/100 movies and 2/100
conversations, that's the same as another person doing 1/50 books and 1/50 movies... not
in amount of work (though it could be, if the one person does Spanish and the other
Chinese), but in their chosen goals. We have to encourage people to reach their goals and
for that it would be best to have a ranking by percentage... that way we could also
encourage those who seem to be progressing too slowly for their stated goal.

Especially other languages... ;-)
Okay, I kindly request for an answer if the Half Challenges can't include neither conversations nor written entries - because it's high time to register :-)
