UPDATE FRENCH
FILMS
1- 12 Beverly Hills 90210 - Season one (Ep 1-24) (May 5th-15th)
13-23 Beverly Hills 90210 - Season two (Ep. 1-22) (May 16-th to 23rd)
24-28 Castle - Season one (ep 1-10)(May 20th-31st)
29-40 Castle - Season two (ep.1-24) (June 1st to 8th)
NCIS
41 - NCIS season 1 ep. 1-2
42 - NCIS season 1 ep. 3-4
43 - NCIS season 1 ep. 5-6
44 - NCIS season 1 ep. 7-8
I had seen a few episodes of NCIS before, and I really enjoyed it, as I like crime stories, and I am at the age when I remember Mark Harmon as drop dead gorgeous. Unfortunately my oldest daughter was not all that fond of this, which is a shame, since I have bought three seasons of it...
BOOKS
1 - 2.5 Agatha Christie "Temoin indesirable" (250 pages)
2.5 - 3.7 Agatha Christie:"Miss Marple au club du mardi (120 pages)"
3.7 - 4.2 Saint Exepery: "Le Petit Prince" (50 pages - or actually 70, but there were some drawings)
NEW ITEMS
I had planned to only enter material once I had finished the whole book, but I see that the fact that I am reading three different books at the same time makes that difficult.
"Lonely Planet: Transsiberien - Russie - Mongolie - Chine (270 pages so far)
This is a guidebook (I figured I needed to read a guidebook about the Transsiberian, so I might just as well read it in French so that I could count it for the Advanced Super Challenge (sneaky, right :-). I had originally planned to count less pages than there is, because of the pictures, but since the book has small print, and in effect takes three times as long to read as regular material, I am applying The Golden Rule, and count page for page. My French is really getting up to speed now, there is not much that I do not understand.
"Gustave Flaubert: Mme. Bovary" (160 pages so far)
It is 25 years since I last tried to read this book, and to my immense surprise, I am actually enjoying it (as I am 160 pages into it, I have passed the 50 page threshold, where I had stopped every time before).
When I felt she was just being a bitch 25 years ago, I can now see that she had a depression, and I can relate so much more to her feelings, that although I still do not like her, I do understand where she is coming from. I am looking forward to seeing how it ends.
"Guides VOR: St. Petersbourg" (10 pages so far)
Another guidebook - this time in preparation for my trip to- your guessed it :-) St. Petersburg. Also filled to the brim with facts, and a useful vocabulary.

I have switched my Super Challenge in German to being an Advanced Super Challenge.
Frankly, I feel I became a solid B2 in German, so an Advanced Super Challenge makes more
sense. Also, with the 100 pages = 1 book, the book part is also more manageable :)

So, yesterday on the way to work, I was doing some mental arithmetic about how much time I would need to read a day if I took on an Advanced Super Challenge in Dutch. Now, it may be that my arithmetic was all wrong, but it didn't sound unreasonable so I've signed up. I'm somewhere in the Bs with Dutch, but my reading and listening are both pretty solid and B2 at a guess. I've been really missing Dutch, and as I'm going to the Netherlands this month, figure I need to get some practise in before then anyway. (Yes, this is the same person who was worried about adding a French half last month - that's going really well now, so less worried!)
I started a book somewhere around May 1st, and finally finished it yesterday, so will log that as it's during the challenge period, even if it's mostly before I signed up for it. Hope that's okay.
