Hello all!
While finally reaching a level of Arabic where I feel I have a grasp of the language
and what needs to be worked on (well - everything, but at least I know this now!), I
have started to fantasize about Persian. For quite a long time actually.
So instead of thinking about how it COULD BE to study Persian, I decided I will
actually start. It wont be mucked up with Arabic at this stage anyway.
What are the best learning materials around?
I am thinking I will do a month of just generally getting to know the language. Listen
to the music, doing some Pimsleur, reading up about it even more on various forums,
mapping out all the relevant materials there is.
But do the knowledgeable people on this board have some books that are very good for a
beginner student to start on? Considering I already have a grounding in Arabic, the
script, some vocabulary and the grammatical borrowings will be easier for me to
understand.

There is a very good, and not to mention, free site run by a native Persian/Farsi
speaker. http://easypersian.com it will take you to at least a B2 level.

This certainly won't take you to a B1 level, but it's a good start for audio, and I like
the format: Chai and Conversation.
It's run on a "freemium" model, in that the audio is free and bonus printed materials
cost a dollar each lesson.
