Has anyone tried to switch Siri on their phones to another language? I've been trying
to speak French to him (French Siri has a male voice), but am not having much luck.
It doesn't matter what I try to say; the response is usually "je ne sais pas ce que ça
vous dire" or "voulez-vous que je recherche << ... >> sur internet?"
There's no room for error! He won't understand "jouez la musique" - it has to be
"jouez de la musique." And even then, if I slur I get a search for "Joey
des Lamouzié." And I'm still trying to figure out how to say "set the alarm" (réveil
moi en 5 minutes) without Siri wanting to "montrer à Riley."
Does anyone have a list of commands that work in French, or other foreign languages?
It would be fun to have a French speaking phone, if I can ever get it down.
side note: Franco-Siri does have some of Anglo-Siri's humor. Ask him "voulez-vous
coucher avec moi?"; the reply was "j'ai déjà tout ce dont j'ai besoin dans le nuage."
edit: I was looking in the wrong places. I couldn't find any articles, but I just found
a bunch of you tube videos. I'll post what I find ...

I don't get understood unless I switch to a European accent, even when I pick Canadian French, so I just
switch to English...

I just switched my phone to French and Siri understands the command "Appelle [name]", but
I haven't tried anything else (I had actually never used Siri until today, so I don't
even know what the equivalent English commands are).

Siri has been somewhat difficult to use in one's native language, so I wouldn't feel TOO bad. FWIW, I have my phone
set entirely to German, including Siri, and I've been able to get it to do some things, but there aren't that many
things that I've found it useful for. Part of the problem is that not all of the functionality available in English has
been available in other languages.
BTW, on my phone, when I bring up the Siri prompt, there's a "(i)" button that, when pressed, displays a list of
potential Siri commands. I learned to use Siri by watching youtube videos and the like showing demonstrations of
people using it.

Siri in French is really a bugger. It works fine in Spanish, and even my voice
recognition app understands the few phrases i know in Hungarian.
It seems Siri in French is just like the French! You have to be PERFECT for them to
understand.
