Hello everyone, hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas Eve yesterday :)
So, I used to watch a TV show called Departures about three guys from Canada who travel all over the globe - Iceland, Australia, North Korea, Africa, you name it! With them they have a camera to document their experiences. While watching this I came to realize how beautiful our planet really is and how many interesting cultures exist on it. Since watching this show my biggest wish has become to travel around the globe. Now I just want to hear about some of the places you guys want to travel to and how/if this is reflected in your choice of the languages you choose to learn? Travel: everywhere I haven't been yet, but mostly Scandinavia and Russia.

Romania, Albania, North Korea, Mongolia, Armenia, Yakutsk in Russia, Moscow in Winter, Vienna again, the north of Hokkaido to see the sea ice in the Sea of Okhotsk, the ice festival in Harbin, China, lots of places in Georgia I haven't been to yet, and a gorgeous beach in Thailand...

I would love to travel across South America, ideally, taking a gap year to backpack and take some small jobs along the way, and this is my main motivation in learning Spanish.

That's a tough one...I'd say everywhere! But my main priorities would be all of Europe

Since I began studying Spanish, I’ve become very interested in the history and culture of the Spanish speaking parts of the world. Last March I went to Madrid with my Spanish class from school. It’s a very beautiful city with beautiful architecture and I would love to go back. After graduation I’m going to take a year off to work. I have been thinking of going to South America to do volunteer work, but that costs a lot of money which I don’t have. Instead I might seek to become an au pair in a Spanish speaking country for six months or so. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

France! Also Germany, Russia, Switzerland and Belgium in that order.
I wouldn't say no to a non-English speaking European tour. If money was no object I might throw in an Asian country or two, just to say that I did, but I want to avoid Africa, the Middle East, and South America.
