I'm curious. What language do people, and especially the polyglots, reckon will be their next to move from studies to speaks ? i.e. Basic Fluency. For myself, I'm hoping to get French to Basic Fluency by the end of the year.

I want to get French "finished" (by my own reckoning, of course) by year's end and then begin learning German. For a little while recently I had been considering whether or not I should study Russian before German for the sole reason that I am aquainted with someone who is a native speaker, but I don't think I'm quite ready for the challenge.

After numerous failed attempts to ignite my school French, I started learning Italian last year, so within the next 18 months I hope to achieve basic fluency, or CEFR B2/C1.
After Italian. I will definitely try again with French!
I feel like I have too many languages 'on the go' at the moment, which doesn't suit my learnng style, so I think it'll be 2 years before I take up another, or ideally when I can claim to have advenced fluency in German and Italian, and basic fluency in French and Russian.

German should keep me busy for another year or so, but after that I'm probably going to set my sights on Japanese—a slight deviation from the original plan, which was to brush up on my French first. Sorry French, Japanese is just boat loads more exciting to me right now!

I am hoping to move French from studies to speaks on or before October 2016 because that will be the
tenth anniversary of the project. After that I will take a 10 year break from language learning.

Probably Swedish, although I would be happy with B1 at the moment, which would not be enough for "speaks". My "speaks" languages (especially French) keep me very busy right now.
