I would definitely like to learn Papiamento some day (the Papiamento of Aruba most likely as it can vary from place
to place). I would most likely tackle Dutch first, as I really do want to learn Dutch, but also as I can see from this
thread, Papiamento materials would most likely be better if one is learning the language Dutch-Papiamento rather
than English Papiamento. I'd imagine that the grammar would be relatively simple. Could anyone provide any insight
onto any more information about the language?

I dunno if this has been asked already, but how close is this language to Spanish? I've also been intrigued by Papiamento/u for some time but would hate to learn a Spanish clone...

Anyway instead of waiting for somebody else to review Eurotalk for you. Here is the company site you can try it out for yourself and I directed it straight to the Papiamento language.
Eurotalk!

Thanks for that. I tried it out and the course is now on order from Amazon UK.

Except for the -nan plural and the lo/ta/tabata/tabatin particles instead of verb
conjugation, I think it basically is a Spanish clone (on a creole Portuguese base,
with a generous helping of Dutch added for good measure).

Rather similar to Afrikaans vs. Dutch, come to think of it.

I just contacted the administrator about Papiamento and has added the language on the list. Now members can choose to put it on their hit, studying or speaks list.

IMO I do not think it is a Spanish clone, but labels on creoles are difficult to explain exactly. Example the Spanish based creole Chavacano. I read some people say it is not Spanish. While others say it is, but broken Spanish.

I do not think Chavacano is Spanish, but a language on it's own. Like what I just wrote it is opinion
