Are they releasing new editions of French and German anytime soon ?

New German is coming this or next year but not French. Anyway, New French With Ease is an excellent course and will be excellent for the next 50 years, so why wait?

I don't know about new Assimil versions, but I'd get any edition you can find right now and use soon. You'll get a good program and probably a better price, too.

I have the French and Italian Assimil programs and they are helpful.

*And anyway, procrastination is for AFTER you purchase and own a language program!*

(that's only my own joke and not your meaning, I know!)

They already released the newest 'German with Ease' (it was released in May). Though, it's not really new. I have the both the new one and the old version from 1987 and this 'new' edition is nothing but the same lessons in a new binding. I went through the first 20 lessons and they were the exact same and then just randomly flipping to later lessons they were all the same, verbatim. So if you want German with Ease, you can pick up the older versions cheaper as it's the same material.

I am slightly confused by Assimil. The older German With Ease (the one you can buy on Amazon) was by Hilde Schneider but there is a newer one advertised on Assimil's website by Gudrun Roemer (which looks to be a translation of L'Allemand sane peine). I understood from this board that it was due to come out this year or next.

The new version is available in French L1. It begins something like "good day"- "yes, a good day to learn German"

You can see it on the German Assimil site.

Just click on the "Lehrbuch" or "Hörbeispiel" on the right hand column.

I agree. But this new book doesn't have Gudrun Roemer mentioned anywhere on it that I could find. (I did buy my book directly from Assimil)

usage of eszett updated?
