EDIT: @gravity guy: if you feel it stops going in as effectively
after an hour or so then of course you should do what works for you. Continuing would
only create tension and interfere with your learning. Sorry, dude. I didn't mean to
sound dogmatic about long sessions. |

No worries, you didn't sound dogmatic :)
With regards to long sessions at weekends, my wife and I run an online wedding business
so our weekend s are taken up dealing with that. Also, as most weddings take place at
the weekend, it means that we have even less time. I was actually looking at the LR
method last night and think it looks fantastic, again though, the time element is the
problem for me. If I had plenty of spare hours each day, that is definitely something I
would be doing.

L-R perhaps something for your next holiday if you get the materials all ready now?

Well funny you should mention that, I was just looking at the possibility of LR'ing (if
I may use that abbreviation) some harry potter books however I am finding that the
audio version in Italian is nowhere to be found. I have looked on amazon and there is
one for
Harry Potter e la pietra filosofale but I am not sure if it is the full version or if
it is abridged as it does not say. I obviously want to try something that is fairly
easy to get to grips with but at the same time is enjoyable to read (yes, yes, I am a
31 year old man that likes Harry Potter! lol). If I was doing Spanish then it wouldn't
be a problem as there are an abundance of books and audio in that language.
Any suggestions where I may be able to get some good material from?

I just thought that I would mention that the last time that I checked, it was far more cost effective for Americans to order Michel Thomas courses from amazon.uk. Even with the international shipping charges, it's not even close (at least for the American e-tailers that I found / checked).
For any Americans who have never ordered anything from amazon.uk, it might be worth mentioning that the prices displayed there include VAT. However, when the shipping address is in the US they remove the VAT (which, as I recall is roughly 1/6 of the price). Amazon classes the Michel Thomas courses as audio-books, which use the "book" shipping rates rather than the somewhat lower DVD / CD shipping rate. However, since amazon.uk is selling all of the new MT courses (the versions released last year) for 60% of MSRP, the shipping costs are a minor issue.

VAT is actually 20% so 1/5 of the cost is now VAT. Good for US, not good for UK :)

You add 20% to the VAT-exclusive price to get the VAT-inclusive total, so that means
1/6th of the final total is VAT. It's no better for the US now than when VAT was 17.5%
since (apart from general price fluctuations, exchange rate changes etc.) when the VAT
rate went up the underlying price didn't change.
