As someone who's already fluent in French and currently living in Paris where I have
access to great bookstores, I'm wondering if anyone has some recommendations of good
French-language resources for Spanish. The point is to find materials that take advantage
of already knowing a romance language, not to mention advanced knowledge of grammar that
the French tend to be taught and anglophones not (unless we study a foreign language). I
already have Assimil Espagnol Sans Peine and I'm working through Madrigal's Magical Key
to Spanish which shows all the "backdoor" connections between Spanish and English thanks
to the French influence. I'd do a search but I haven't found a French-speaking language
learning community online quite like this one and I don't just want to pick up whatever
materials have the best marketing.

I'm currently using Espagnol Débutant : Une leçon par jour pendant 3 mois.

It's published by Livre de Poche and the list price is only 6,50 €, so pretty cheap.
You can get a more expensive box set with audio, but don't bother. The book itself is
pretty good. It focuses on the Iberian variety of Spanish, so you'll learn vosotros and
the 'th' pronunciation of C and Z, but you can ignore them if you want.

The lessons are short (I do three a day, currently), and they are written for the
French learner, so you will be able to count on cognates and the like.

It's the best value I was able to find.

ISBN is 9782253084334

I also saw at the bookstore a pretty decent one called « 40 Leçons pour parler espagnol
» and in Europe it's about the same price, but for some reason here in QC it was more
expensive, so I chose the other one, but I'm sure it's pretty good.

Amazon address : http://www.amazon.fr/40-Le%C3%A7ons-pour-parler-
espagnol/dp/2266189158/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1339732549&sr= 8-8

Bonne chance !
