Hey all, I started using Princeton Russian and would like to add the vocab words into
anki. But I have this problem where certain characters do not get copied and pasted
properly. I think my computer doesn't recognize the characters or something.

Let me show you guys what I'm talking about.

Here's what I'm trying to copy:

But when I paste into anki(or anywhere) certain characters(i think it's the ones with
accent marks) are changed:

Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

I don't think that it's your computer not recognizing characters, it looks more like your computer doesn't recognize
accented cyrillic letters which is why they're the only ones being swapped out for some strange other character. I
guess if you just put an apostrophe in front of accented syllable it would serve the same purpose as the accented
vowel. As you probably know, accented texts are only a helpful learners' tool for Russian and your computer
probably doesn't recognize the characters since they're not a part of the standard orthography.

The Princeton Russian course seems to have been authored using a custom Cyrillic font to display accented vowels (e.g. something like “Couriere Russ" or "Timesse Russ"), which your computer is unlikely to have preinstalled. I ran into the same problem a while back on my old laptop, and resorted to writing a search and replace macro to fix the characters instead. If you do however try downloading several fonts and find one that matches (maybe even one of those mentioned above), let us know... :)
