A question about Teach Yourself German. | ||

Hello,
I've been using the Teach Yourself German language course for four days now, and I've been enjoying it. I have a question, though. How many chapters should I do a week? I've completed the first chapter in four days quite easily, and I know most everything in the chapter. I've heard people say one chapter a week. I've heard people say three chapters a week, and I've even heard some say that one chapter a week is too much. What do you guys think is the right amount? I'm a high school student on summer vacation so I have a lot of time on my hands. Thanks! 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I can't speak directly for the TY German course, but other TY courses were progressively
harder with each chapter, so I had to modify my plans with them. The Turkish course, for example, threw so much grammar at me around chapter 8 or so, that I wouldn't have been able to keep the schedule I was on (in fact, I pretty much ignored the grammar and chose to learn the dialogs first, then circled back and went through the grammar). In other words, don't concentrate on how many chapters you can complete in any given week, rather how comfortable you are with the material before moving on. Thanks for the response! Yeah, that's what I thought. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't
going through the teach yourself course to quickly. I noticed that it does seem to get harder in the future chapters, so my current speed may slow down. 1 person has voted this message useful |
