that Niqqud only hinders the way to fluency in Modern Hebrew?

Wouldn't it be better not to get used to it right from the start?

What's your view on that?

From an earlier post of mine: http://www.how-to-learn-any-
language.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=30851&PN=1&TPN=1
A trap I have seen fellow learners succumb to is reliance on niqqud for reading. This
is where the verb system can help wean learners off of niqqud. Prior to my learning the
verb system I was hopelessly lost in pronouncing, let alone understanding, Modern
Hebrew. With the verb system, reading the language becomes very intuitive.

The only time that niqqud is used is in children's books, in non-Hebrew words/names,
and in some cases when there is confusion. Niqqud is simply a reading aid (which is my
the Masoretes invented it). There was an excellent newspaper called Shaar laMatchil -
שער למתחיל that is not publishing right now (it will hopefully return in the near
future) that was intended for learners of Hebrew which mixed in niqqud to facilitate
ease of reading. But any reading practice outside of the aforementioned will not have
niqqud. If you're reading is reliant on niqqud, then you won't be able to read Hebrew.
The best way to 'graduate' from niqqud is to learn the verb system and to work with
learning materials that don't rely solely on niqqud (Assimil does while Routledge
doesn't; one of the reasons I prefer the latter).
